Welcome to Stations of the Cross, our Good Friday meditation for 2022.
The Stations of the Cross have a history stretching back to the sixth century. They mirror the Via Dolorosa, a route walked by pilgrims in Jerusalem. This covers the path Jesus took on his way to this death on the cross, on that first Good Friday two thousand years ago.
Some of us are avoiding gatherings during the COVID-19 Omicron outbreak. WPC is offering a self-guided Good Friday meditative walk through Otari Bush. This walk has no set start time, to avoid a large group forming. You are welcome to organise a small group to walk with, or come on your own. There are two routes available. One climbs the hill in imitation of the climb up to the hill of Calvary. The other stays on the flat, wheelchair accessible track at the bottom of the valley.
To take part: on Good Friday (15th April), start at the Otari Bush carpark on Churchill Drive. If the carpark is full, please park on Blackbridge Road or Churchill Drive. Take a Stations leaflet from the leaflet box by the start of the track. The leaflet contains a map of the places to stop, and something to ponder or pray for each one.

If you’d like a sneak peek of the route please download the leaflet here.
